Making Sketchbooks: Ebru Paper Marbling

Students are preparing for their upcoming craft sale to help refugees by creating beautiful ebru, or paper marbling prints in art class. Ebru, or paper marbling originated in Asia. In Iran they called it Abru. “Ab” means water and “Bru” is face, or surface. In Turkey it is called Ebru, which means colorful. Traditionally it was used with calligraphy and to decorate the cover and inside cover of books. Our talented artists will be using their prints to create notebooks and sketchbooks for their fundraiser.
