Sunprints

In addition to sketchbooks, we brought Sun Print or Cyanotype paper along with us to Greece. This fun and unique process allowed children at Paradise to not only explore new ways of making art, but it also connected to their science unit of study on plants. We collected a wide variety of plants growing on the island of Samos. After learning how to make a sunprint, students found a sunny area in their classroom and carefully arranged leaves and flowers on their paper. Waiting for the paper to expose in the sun was difficult, but everyone was so excited to watch the paper expose like magic in the water. We had such a great time making these beautiful prints.
